As you can see, the weather is changing and the leaves have fallen! So
what does that have to do with flooring. Friends, next comes SNOW! With
snow comes salt!!! Salt is a floors worst enemy. Therefore let me state
the obvious, but in our busy world often overlooked, PUT A TASTEFUL MAT OR AREA RUG DOWN at the front door, garage door, and a large one at the back door. Your dogs need a few steps since they rarely wipe their paws. You must vacuum your mats often or they won’t function well.
You could encourage your family to wipe their feet prior to entry your home or even better take your shoe off. Place a shoe basket next to your front door to keep all the shoes out of the way. Data proves it can reduce your flooring maintenance costs by up to 100%. Since you are all the Kings and Queens of your castles, I’ll leave this one up to you. Eric

With all the wet weather, now is the time to check your hardwood flooring by the doors. If it feels cupped up at the edges and sort of bumpy, you are getting water (moisture) in through the door. Check the weather seals! Often, with a minimal investment you can seal the door keeping the moisture out and your comfortable air inside. As for your hardwood floors, the absorbed moisture will slowly evaporate and often, your floors will lay back down.
